Clovelly
A visit to Clovelly provides an opportunity to step back from the modern technological world into a thriving community whose buildings have remained untouched for centuries, whose history straddles 3 millennia and whose people offer a warm Devon welcome to their guests.

CLOVELLY HERRING FESTIVAL A little information about the festival: First time festival celebrating the King of fishes, once the Silver Darling and staple economy of our historic fishing village. We want to do our bit in the crusade to help conserve dwindling fish stocks, safeguard the livelihoods of fishermen and promote neglected, but great-tasting species, such as the noble herring. Meet maritime historian and writer, winner of the 2004 BBC Food Campaigner/Educator Award, Mike Smylie, and see his Kipperland exhibition, smokehouse and demonstrations of fishing skills and crafts. There will be tastings of herring specialities, special promotion of local Devon cider and wine, fish filleting competition, shanty singers and a photographic exhibition of Clovelly’s fishing history including the Picarooner, a fishing vessel unique to Clovelly.

SEAGUERNSEY - Guernsey Regatta 2007
The 2007 Long Port Group Guernsey Regatta will build on the programme we have successfully established over the last two years: a Concours d'Elegance over the first weekend, a relaxed programme of cruising and pilotage throughout the week with a more serious racing programme, including racing round Sark and in the Little Russell, over the weekend of 7-9 September. On the entertainment side there will be a wide range of music and entertainment each lunchtime and evening involving bands and artistes from the island, the UK and France. The entertainment highlights will be on 8 September with the Last Night of the Proms broadcast on a big screen live from the Albert Hall and a spectacular firework display. We are also planning the first ever Guernsey 'Septemberfest' (like Octoberfest but younger), more details to follow. The heart of the event will be Regatta Village providing a high quality range of food, from French and Thai to local seafood, indoors and al fresco. The Village will also house a bar and is the perfect setting from which to view the picturesque St Peter Port harbour.
